National Reconciliation Week 2024: Dates, Events, and Significance

Dates and Locations

National Reconciliation Week is held annually from May 27th to June 3rd. The dates commemorate the anniversaries of the 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision, two key events in Australia's reconciliation history. In 2024, the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast will be held on Monday, May 27th, from 7:00 am to 9:00 am at a location to be announced.

Significance

National Reconciliation Week is a time for Australians to reflect on the history of reconciliation in Australia, to celebrate the progress that has been made, and to recommit to working towards a more just and equitable future for all Australians. The week is marked by a range of events, including community gatherings, educational programs, and cultural performances. These events provide opportunities for Australians to come together and learn more about the history of reconciliation and the work that still needs to be done.

Tickets

Tickets for the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast are available on Humanitix. Proceeds from ticket sales go towards supporting the work of Reconciliation WA, a not-for-profit organization that works to promote reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians.

Additional Events

In addition to the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast, there will be a range of other events held throughout the week, including: * Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony * Panel discussion on the theme of reconciliation * Cultural performances by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists * Workshops and interactive activities For more information on National Reconciliation Week events in Boorloo Perth, please visit the Reconciliation WA website.
