Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project Digitizes Holocaust Materials

Berlin-Based Foundation Aims to Preserve History

JDCRP Stiftung Partners with Yad Vashem

The JDCRP Foundation (Jewish Digital Cultural Recovery Project Stiftung), headquartered in Berlin, Germany, is undertaking a monumental task: the digitization of Holocaust-era materials to ensure their preservation for future generations.

The project aims to create a comprehensive digital archive of objects, documents, and artifacts related to the Holocaust. The foundation has partnered with Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, to digitize materials from its archives. The project also includes the digitization of books from the Baltic states, a region heavily impacted by the Holocaust.

The digitization process involves scanning and photographing physical materials, creating high-resolution digital images that can be stored and accessed online. This digital archive will provide researchers, educators, and the public with unprecedented access to a vast collection of Holocaust-related materials, facilitating research, education, and remembrance.

The JDCRP Foundation's mission is to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and ensure that its lessons are not forgotten. By creating a comprehensive digital archive, the foundation aims to make Holocaust-era materials accessible to all, fostering a deeper understanding of this tragic chapter in history.
