Romania to face Ukraine in Euro 2024 opener

Romania's Euro 2024 campaign will begin with a match against Ukraine on June 17.

The match will be played at the National Arena in Bucharest and will be Romania's first appearance at the European Championship since 2016.

Romania have been drawn in Group E alongside Ukraine, Belgium and Switzerland. They will face Belgium on June 21 and Switzerland on June 25.

Ukraine have failed to score in six of their nine group stage games at the UEFA European Championship. They were eliminated in the group stage in 2012 and 2016.

Romania have won just one of their last four matches at the European Championship. They were eliminated in the group stage in 2008 and 2016.

The winner of Group E will face the runner-up from Group F in the round of 16. The second-place team from Group E will face the winner of Group F.
